Manage your account and access

These tasks cover your own Overvis HMI account. The pages, fields, and rules they use are in Account pages and Notifications. What each workspace role can do is in Workspace roles.

The same steps create an account for a new email.

  1. Open /login.
  2. Enter your email, or choose Google or GitHub when the page shows them.
  3. To stay signed in on this device for longer than 24 hours, select Stay signed in on this device. Select it only on your own device.
  4. Enter the one-time code from the email. If the code is rejected, correct it and try again. If the email does not arrive, wait one minute and select Resend code, then use the code from the latest email.
  5. If you enrolled an authenticator app, enter its code. To skip the email and authenticator codes, sign in with a passkey instead.
  6. If you are new, complete onboarding: enter your name and company name, and confirm the beta acknowledgment.
  7. If the beta waiting page /beta opens, enter an access code, or contact sales@overvis.com to request access.

Session lifetime and code rules are in Sign-in and sessions.

  1. Open the invitation link from the email.
  2. If another account is signed in, select Switch account and sign in with the invited email.
  3. If your email is not verified yet, select Sign in with an email code and sign in. The app returns you to the invitation.
  4. If you are new, complete onboarding. The app then opens the workspace.

If the invitation cannot be loaded, select Retry. If it expired or was revoked, ask a workspace admin or owner for a new link.

Every notification also appears under the header bell, whatever you set here. Field details are in Notification settings.

Choose the notification language and time zone

Section titled “Choose the notification language and time zone”
  1. Open Account settings → Notifications.
  2. Under Language and time zone, select the Notification language and the Time zone, then save.

To change the language of the app itself, use the language selector in the header.

  1. Open Account settings → Notifications.
  2. Under Email, turn email notifications on or off.
  3. Select the Minimum severity that reaches you by email (Info, Warning, or Urgent), then save.
  1. Open Account settings → Notifications.
  2. Under SMS, enter your mobile number in international format, with + and the country code.
  3. Select Send code.
  4. Enter the 6-digit code from the SMS and select Confirm number.
  5. Turn SMS notifications on. They stay off until you do.
  6. Select the Minimum severity for SMS, then save.

To use another number, select Change number and confirm the new one; the old number stays until then. To stop SMS and delete the number, select Remove number.

The link connects whatever Telegram account opens it, so do not share it.

  1. Open Account settings → Notifications.
  2. Under Telegram, select Connect Telegram, then Open Telegram.
  3. In the chat with the Overvis HMI bot, press Start. The bot answers with the account it connected, and the settings page shows your Telegram account.
  4. Optional: select the Minimum severity for Telegram, then save.

If the link expired, select New link. If the bot refuses because your Telegram account is connected to another Overvis HMI account, send /unbind to the bot, then connect again.

To stop Telegram notifications, select Disconnect Telegram, or send /unbind to the bot. The bot’s commands are listed under Telegram.

  1. Open Account settings → Notifications.
  2. Under Workspaces, turn the workspace off.

Its notifications then reach you only in the app.

  1. Open Account settings → Email.
  2. Verify your identity.
  3. Enter the new address.
  4. Enter the code sent to the new address. If it does not arrive, wait one minute and select Resend code.

Confirmation signs out your other devices.

  1. Open Account settings → Security.
  2. Add a passkey and confirm it with your device PIN or biometrics.

Before you remove a passkey, make sure another sign-in method works.

  1. Open Account settings → Security.
  2. Start authenticator enrollment.
  3. Scan the QR code with the authenticator app, open the link on the same device, or enter the setup key manually.
  4. Enter the code the app generates.
  5. Select Download codes and store the recovery codes outside the device that holds the authenticator.
  6. Confirm that you saved the recovery codes.

If a security notice names an action you recognize, do nothing. Otherwise, contact support@overvis.com at once.

If the authenticator is unavailable:

  1. On /login, sign in with a recovery code instead of the authenticator code.
  2. Within five minutes, accept the offer in Account settings → Security to generate replacement recovery codes.
  3. Save the new set. The old set stops working.
  4. To replace the lost authenticator, enroll a new one under Account settings → Security. Verify with a new recovery code or a passkey.

If you lost the authenticator and every recovery code and have no usable passkey, contact support@overvis.com or the helpdesk. Recovery rules are under Recovery.

Scripts, API clients, and local workspaces sign in to the API with an API key. There are two kinds, and neither signs in to the browser app:

  • A personal API key acts with your permissions in every workspace you belong to, and reaches your account’s own data. You create it yourself, for a script or an API client.
  • A workspace API key reaches one workspace only, with your role there. Develop locally and hmi pull create one for each local copy of a workspace; you do not create it by hand. Workspace settings lists these keys under CLI keys, and Account settings → API keys under Local workspace keys.

What each kind can reach is under API authentication.

  1. Open Account settings → API keys.
  2. Under Personal API keys, enter a Key name that identifies the script or machine.
  3. Select Create API key and complete the verification.
  4. Copy the full secret. It is shown only once.
  5. Store the secret in a password manager or secret store. Do not commit it to git.

For a local workspace, use the workspace API key that hmi pull creates instead; see Pull a workspace.

Revoke a key when you no longer need it, or when a machine that holds it is lost.

  1. Open Account settings → API keys.
  2. Find the key under Personal API keys or Local workspace keys.
  3. Select Revoke and complete the verification. The key stops working at once.
  4. If the key is still needed, create a new one. For a workspace API key, pull the workspace again.

Workspace API keys can also be revoked under Workspace settings → CLI keys, where admins and the owner revoke anyone’s; see Revoke a workspace API key.

Deleting your account deletes every workspace you own, with its data for every member.

  1. If you want to keep a billing account you are the last owner of, make another person its owner first.
  2. Open Account settings → Security and start account deletion.
  3. Complete the verification.
  4. Review the workspaces and billing accounts the dialog lists.
  5. If a billing account has a positive balance, confirm that you give it up. It is not refunded.
  6. Confirm the deletion.

What deletion removes and keeps is under Account deletion.
